A Level II Rigger can perform the following rigging tasks unsupervised: Estimate weight
and center of gravity when calculations are required. Identify lift points. Determine and

select rigging based on loading.
A Rigger Level II can estimate load weight and center of gravity; identify lift points;
determine and select rigging based on loading; perform pre-use inspection of rigging and
lift points; identify and attach rigging with knowledge of hitch configurations and load
angle factors, rigging capacities, and load integrity
Rigging courses come in three forms: basic, intermediate, and advanced levels. Before
applying for their rigging license, prospective riggers must complete an authorized
training. Staff members are trained to perform simple rigging techniques by level I
rigging certification.
Types of rigging. Rigging is divided into two classes, standing, which supports the mast
(and bowsprit), and running, which controls the orientation of the sails and their degree
of reefing. Configurations differ for each type of rigging, between fore-and-aft rigged
vessels and square-rigged vessels.Riggers are trained to calculate weight, suspension, and balance. They can control the movements of the items being moved through tight spacesor great heights. The job of a rigger is not easy. It requires extensive training and
experience working with other workers on a construction site
To participate in Qualified Rigger Level 2 you must have Basic Rigger knowledge, skills
and job relevant experience. Upon completion of this course, you will be able to
demonstrate knowledge of safe rigging methods, calculate load charts and crane capacity,
and demonstrate the center of gravity of a non-symmetrical load
Rigger Responsibilities:
Inspecting and preparing loads that need to be moved.
Setting, aligning, and leveling heavy equipment machinery.
Selecting the appropriate rigging gear.
Preparing rigging equipment including beams, pulleys, clamps, and bolts.
Inspecting rigging before final use.
Monitoring and maintaining rigging equipment.
Maneuvering loads using heavy equipment machinery and by hand.
Ensuring compliance with state and company safety procedures.
Communicating with the rigging and construction team.
Breaking down rigging equipment and conducting post-rigging inspections.

In addition to being knowledgeable in all Basic Rigger tasks, the Intermediate Rigger
must also:Demonstrate intermediate level of proficiency in all the rigger tasks.
Perform specific rigging operations using come-along and chain hoists, reeving, rigging
hitches and knots, anchor points, synthetic ropes, wire ropes, chains, spreader bars and
equalizing beams, synthetic slings, lifting points, dollies, trollies, winches, bars and
levers, rigging jacks, links and rings, plate clamps, and cable dogs/grips.
Be proficient in load dynamics and load weight estimation or determination as they relate
to the rigging operation.Calculate equipment capacities, and applies D/d ratios, vectors, angles, boom angles and
load radius as they relate to lifting and/or rigging operations.
