Scaffolders learn how to prepare materials for scaffolding, calculate the required scaffold on site and maintain scaffolding materials.
In this course you will learn how to understand basic drawings and sketches, and gain knowledge of different types of scaffolding, fittings, materials and their uses. You will also learn proper safety precautions to be used when working with hand tools as well as other equipment and machine tools.
Scaffolds are temporary structures that provide safe means of access and work platforms to facilitate work at height and also to contain materials and tools in limited quantities. Scaffolding has a variety of applications. It is used in construction, renovation, routine maintenance and renovation activities. The use of scaffolding provides safer and more convenient working conditions than conventional working arrangements, such as using ladders, overhead stretch work, etc. Properly installed and maintained scaffolds provide workers with safe access to job sites, stable and level work platforms, and temporary storage of tools and materials to carry out immediate tasks.
The course will provide knowledge of legal obligations contained within National & International standards for provision and use of scaffolding, the correct terminology and components, and the construction standards required to ensure safe places of work. The course will also provide inspection techniques and the recording procedures necessary to comply with the statutory provisions. The aim of this scaffolding training is to provide the participants both theoretical and practical knowledge to enable them to erect, inspect, use and dismantle scaffolds, using standard scaffolding guidelines.

After completing this course, you will be able to use common working hand tools such as cutting and chiseling tools for measuring and tightening and learn about their use and maintenance. You will also be able to prepare scaffolding materials to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding, as well as calculate the scaffolding required on site.
